What is Microsoft InfoPath Forms?

Microsoft InfoPath is a software programme used in designing, distributing and submitting electronic forms that contain structured data. Although you use InfoPath to create the forms you do not need Infopath installed to fill out a browser-enabled form template. InfoPath is commonly integrated with Microsoft SharePoint. With the integration to SharePoint you can submit completed forms to SharePoint lists and libraries, and these submitted forms can be opened from SharePoint with the use of InfoPath Filler.

Microsoft InfoPath forms can display specific data that corresponds to the status of a workflow. If you want to have your InfoPath forms to be used in a workflow it will need to be added to a list, library, or content type. The workflow types for each site vary, depending on what type of site it is and whether workflows are enabled. Every workflows are defined by distinct statues with descriptive names, such as Cancelled. The names for the statuses will vary according to the type of workflow.
