Like all things a Company Intranet has its advantages and disadvantage, I will explain what these advantages and disadvantages are below.

Advantages:

1. It is a web-based tool that allows users to produce a customised site according to their need.

2. Company Intranet offering business operations and administration solutions because it also being used as a platform of mounting and organising applications across the internet world.

3. Company Intranet providing cross platform capability for UNIX, Mac, Windows.

4. Another advantage of Company Intranet is that it is time saving because there is no need to maintain physical documents such as procedure manual, requisition forms, and internet phone list.

Disadvantages:

1. The sharing of usernames and passwords can compromise the security of your Company Intranet.

2. As the Company Intranet communications are convenient and much less expensive, but the number of mails/queries is likely to increase and if these are not responded to quickly, they will pile up and the order will create chaos in the Company.

3. While it is true that the sharing of files and documents between users can boost productivity, it is also true that the sharing of files puts them at greater risk. When several people are working on documents simultaneously, it’s easier for those documents to be potentially be deleted or damaged.
